While once a Norwegian asset, these fishing islands have been under Danish control/support since 1388. The official language of the Faroe Islands is Faroese, a Germanic language that descended from Old Norse.

The Nordic settler Eric the Red gave Greenland this misleading description of it being green in a bid to attract more settlers. However, it is far from green and is, in effect the world’s largest island, almost entirely covered in ice. These days it’s more about enjoyment - deep-sea fishing, whale-watching, Arctic cruising, dog-sledding, mountaineering, and bird-watching. The scenery could only be described as stunning, but words don’t do it justice.
